The journey continues.
Wicklow U15 Footballers continued their preparation for the Adam Mangan Tournament in Kilclonfert Offaly on Saturday 12th August with a coaching session in Hollywood GAA on Sunday morning 6th August. Kevin O Brien and his management team are currently preparing the squad to be as competitive as possible in the run up to next week. Will good wins under their belts against Dublin, Meath & Tyrone in reasent weeks the team will be full of confidence as they prepare for next weekend. With over 40 players on the panel and the competition limited to 24 players there will be some players disappointed not to be togging out but Kevin O Brien intends to bring the full panel of players to Offaly to sample and gain from the experience of competiting in a National Tournament. The Panel will be selected after training this Thursday night in Ballinakill at 7pm.
Looking forward to next Weekend in Offaly. The Wicklow lads will be based in Kilclonfert and will compete in Group A with Limerick & Galway North. If we are lucky enough to come out of this group Wicklow would then have a possible semi final meeting with the winners of Group C in Cappincur Meath, Cork & Wexford.
The action starts at 11am with Wicklow V Limerick. 12pm Wicklow V Galway North and 1pm Galway North V Limerick
All group games are 20 minutes per half.
The Semi Final is timed for 2.30pm and hopefully a possible final at 4.00pm
Group D in Ballycommon include Galway South, Longford & Dublin while Group B in Daingean includes Kildare, Clare & Carlow
At the time of writing Wicklow don’t have any major injures worries but for a lack of game time for some players as their clubs have either stopped training or are doing very little for the last few weeks that will effect their fitness. While others were either on Holidays or in the Gealtacht. There is a lot up for discussion by Manager Kevin O Brien and his coaches Hugh Kenny, Tom Fee, Mickey Daly, Kevin Healy & Gerry Browne when selecting their Offical 24 players for the weekend.
The Management & Players would like to thank Hollywood GAA for their welcome and hospitality and use of their grounds last Sunday Morning thanks to Kevin Traynor and the Ladies for providing refreshments after training.
