MSL Grange Motors sponsored Wicklow Schools Football team continued their preparation for their upcoming Leinster Colleges Championship match v Dundalk schools with a excellent victory over Árdscoil na Tríonoide,Athy on Friday 23rd last on a scoreline of 1-21 to 1-10. Playing against the wind in the first half Wicklow Schools got off to a great start with points from Patrick Kelly and Stephen Connor. Athy responded with some great scores of their own but it was the Wicklow schools team who finished the half the stronger with scores from Conor Byrne and Chris Heaslip to leave the score at half time 0-10 to 0-5 in favour of Wicklow Schools. The second half started at a great pace with some great scores from both sides. The game was decided midway through the second half when Sean Gregory sent the ball to the back of the Athy teams net with a well taken goal. This was a very good performance from the Wicklow schools team and the game will assist the team greatly in its preparation for the Championship which takes places in a couple of weeks. Well done to Christopher Heaslip who was man of the match on the day. With some players yet to be added to this squad, management are hoping for a good showing & extended run in the Leinster ‘A’ championship again this season.
